First Attempt Jumper

So the jumper is finally complete! I can't actually remember the date I started but it didn't feel like it took a long time to complete.

This was my first attempt at a jumper or any item of adult clothing. I've tried several times before to make a jumper or cardigan but the projects have either fallen by the way-side or I've found it too difficult to concentrate on it and have given up. So now that this one is finished I'm super happy I actually stuck with it.

The pattern is from Issue 35 of Simply Crochet. The pattern was such an easy one to follow and could easily be adjusted to your own style. I made mine slightly oversized and a bit longer but kept the sleeves as per the pattern. I used Stylecraft Special Aran in Black, Parchment and Copper; lovely autumnal colours!

As this was my first attempt there are of course areas I would change or adjust next time:

The neckline turned out to be lower than I thought so I would keep an eye on that and measure it against myself next time.

When seeing the sleeves together I used double crochet (single crochet in US terms). This resulted in a bit of a ridge when turned the right way out meaning it looks a bit pointed at the top of my shoulders so I would probably try a slip stitch to join although the pattern didn't specify what stitch to use! I'm going to wash the jumper to see if that relaxes the fibres a bit.

Overall I'm really pleased with my jumper, it's a nice addition to my wardrobe, it's totally unique and its made by me! I'm already planning the next clothing project!!
