After a very busy weekend I've nearly finished another baby blanket! There were three on the list so nearly two down, one to go. Annoyingly I keep seeing lots of different designs I want to try so I'm adding them to my ever growing list.
I decided to keep this one simple going with a classic granny square which is rather therapeutic after the star blanket. I've used Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK this time as opposed to my usual choice of Stylecraft Special DK, mainly because it was slightly cheaper on Wool Warehouse and also the colours were just right for what I had in mind. This time round the blanket will be for a baby boy so I thought I would keep things neutral with a hint of blue and hopefully it will be in keeping with the soon-to-be nursery! The colours I've used are cream, oatmeal, peachy and ice blue alternating the colours as I went, starting with oatmeal in the centre then two rounds cream to one round of colour and then switching to two rounds of each colour until I reached the size I wanted. I'm aiming for a pram size with this blanket but it might be slightly bigger.
I'm now onto the border and so far have completed one round of dc (double crochet - US term) and now deciding how to finish it off. I'm deciding between keeping it simple with another round of dc in blue or something a bit fancier like a bobble stitch.
I'll keep you posted on the finished article! Hopefully sometime this week :)
Have you got any blanket projects on the go?
