Super Easy {Crochet} Baby Cardigan

With my niece's birthday only next week and having decided that the Happypotamus was too difficult in such a short space of time I needed to make something quickly to go with the other gifts I've bought her. I always like to try and include something handmade as I feel its adds a personal touch.

I still wanted to keep with the cuddly toy idea but after a quick Google search I couldn't decide what to make so then thought why not a little cardigan. Another Google search and one of my favourite blogs popped up, Repeat Crafter Me. Sarah's blog is always full of inspiration and great free patterns which are really easy to follow as I found with the cap sleeve cardigan.

The pattern was made for her little girl who was 11 months at the time but she stated the fit was more 6-9months so I've adapted it slightly (following her suggestions) and fingers crossed it will fit! As it's not a full button up cardigan I think I may just get away with it for my niece. The cardigan took an evening to make, although I didn't completely finish it the bulk of the work was done and I was really pleased with how quickly it took to whip up.

This pattern is such a great way to use up some left over yarn. Sarah used four main colours colours and one border colour which I kept to but used softer tones of blue, lilac, pink and purple using Stylecraft Special DK in the shades Sherbert, Wisteria, Clematis, and Bluebell with Silver for the border. This cardigan would also look lovely in one solid colour too!

I've teamed my cardigan with a pink button and I will be whipping up a matching headband with bow.

I'll let you know if it fits! Definitely check out the pattern if you want something quick and easy to make for one of your little people! The pattern can be found here: Cap Sleeve Cardigan.

Hope you're all having a great week :)
