With the new season and dip in temperature I've decided to make a blanket for myself! I've only ever made one other blanket just for me when I first started to crochet so I think its about time!
On a recent trip to Ikea I purchased (among many other things) a new duvet cover (called Malin Rund - link) which is fairly plain but has lovely autumnal tones of purple, green, blue and dark grey:
Of course I've chosen my favourite yarn at the moment, Stylecraft Special DK. The colours were so easy to find from their vast selection and I've gone with Meadow, Grape, Graphite and Storm Blue. I haven't decided on a border colour yet but am thinking either something quite dark or very contrasting.
For the pattern I've been eyeing up the willow block from Jan Eaton's book, 200 Crochet Blocks. I've seen so many people on Instagram use it lately so I thought I would give it a go. I actually thought this would be a really difficult pattern but thankfully its quite easy once you get the hang of it and I can whip a square up fairly quickly (well, for me). You can get 8 squares from one ball of yarn so I'm going to see how 8 x 4 squares looks and if that will be big enough. I want it to cover me when I'm snuggled on the sofa :)
I'm planning to have this made by the end of the month so I can then focus on Christmas Crochet...must not get distracted...must not get distracted!!
