Happy New Year to everyone! I hope you all had a lovely time over the festive season. Can you believe we are in 2016 already?! With a new year comes new goals whether that be personally through fitness and keeping healthy, to work and of course, crochet. I always start the year with good intentions of eating healthy and trying to do more exercise but by the last week of January its all usually out the window. Crochet goals however are slightly different; I like to challenge myself creatively and learn something new or try something different.
I looked over my blog posts from last year and I didn't actually do a 2015 crochet goals but in 2014 I aimed to make a jumper which I finally achieved!! I was very pleased with myself and have even got a little mention in Simply Crochet Magazine which I am thrilled about (coming up in Issue 40, Instagram 'Double Tap' section)! This has definitely sparked my creative juices and having had a little break over Christmas from crochet I am raring to go with new projects and goals for this year.
1. New Stitches, New Projects: I have already started one project which involves a new stitch/style for me - Corner to Corner (C2C). This is something I have wanted to try for a while but always thought it looked too difficult but actually once you into the swing of it, I found it to be fairly easy. I'm planning to make a kind of patchwork blanket so I'm making C2C squares at the moment and really enjoying it. I actually have a couple of ideas for this blanket in terms of fundraising so more on that soon!
2. Clothing: Following on from my jumper making last year I would like to try another one this year in a different style like short sleeved or even a cardigan, perhaps using DK or 4-ply so I could wear in in the spring time. There are a couple of lovely patterns I have from magazines I've hoarded over the past couple of years and in my Ravelry library so I have plenty to chose from!
3. Using up my stash: I have had some yarn in my collection for years going back to when I first started to crochet that I haven't used but bought because I thought it looked pretty. I would really like to use up as much as I can and then donate the rest (if this can be done?) or even sell the unopened balls of yarn. At least someone else could make good use out of them! This also allows me to clear some space and buy more effectively, i.e. just for when I have a project on the go!
4. Taking more photographs: I have a lovely camera that I bought a while ago but just don't use it enough. I would really like to learn more about how to take a good photograph and capture great moments. Of course having your phone with you is great as you can get those moments anytime, anywhere but it would be nice to document those special times and even more so with the little ones we have in our family.
5. Stress less: This isn't a crochet related one but I think a good one for overall wellbeing. I do get stressed quite easily and sometimes let the little things in life get to me. Its not healthy and I need to sometimes take a step back and take some deep breaths! Crochet is something I love to do and it really relaxes me so I am going to try and have a project (one at a time!) on the go to keep myself occupied.
So five little goals/resolutions that I hope I stick to! As always I want to keep on blogging regularly and document all my projects and ideas as well as trips and life updates along the way.
I hope you all have had a peaceful start to the new year; Best Wishes for 2016!!!
