This weekend I decided to have a go at making this cutie. The pattern is from issue two of Simply Crochet. I was routing through my old magazines to find some new projects and came across this bunny (Itty Bitty Bunny they call it).
I already had some grey DK in my stash so left over so I started what I thought would be an easy project. It wasn't - I don't know if it's because I haven't done any amigurumi in a long time but I found this a really fiddley, time consuming make!
I had to do the head about three times and in the end made up my own ear patter because the magazine version just looked odd. As you can see from the picture above I tried out a few different patterns before settling on my own creation, the one on the right hand side. I also decided to use some fabric I had to sew on the inside of the ears to break up the grey which I'm really pleased about.
There's something about magazine patterns that always through me; they seem to miss out details like where arms should be places or distance between eyes. We all want our makes to look like the picture in the magazine so how about giving us a few hints?!
I also really dislike sewing the 'body parts' together on any amigurumi and this one was no easier, but I got there in the end!
I am pleased with the end result and am planning to make another one but with a thicker yarn, possible chunky or aran to see if that makes it any easier!
Betty xXx
